James S. Gordon, M.D., was the first chairman of the Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health's Office
of Alternative Medicine. A frequent contributor to The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, he
is also clinical professor of psychiatry and community and family medicine at the Georgetown University School
of Medicine, and director of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine in Washington, D.C.
